2026 Update – Revamped entire guide to link to manufacturer pages that list all compatible attachments, so that you can quickly browse the full selections.
You get a hold of a great power rack or squat rack, but then you find out that the company doesn’t make the attachments / accessories that you want.
No problem! You should be able to find a compatible attachment or accessory, as long as your rack is made with one of a few standard configurations.
Table of Contents
The key specs are:
The tubing size of the uprights, as above, typically one of: 2″x2″, 2″x3″, or 3″x3″.
Racks made in China usually use metric sizing. This applies to a lot of brands featured here. They don’t advertise the fact, and you would have to ask them or run into the problem yourself. The tables they are organized in identify them as such.
The hardware/peg diameter that fits into the holes in the uprights, as above. Varies from 1/2″ to 1″. Going by the peg diameter is more consistent across brands than the hole size that is cut somewhat larger than the peg.
The hole spacing in the uprights, ie: the distance between holes on center, as above. This is only applicable for attachments that use 2 holes, the second using a locking pin.
2″ spacing is becoming the standard. Some racks have Westside spacing, which is 1″ spacing at a certain height range for setting bench press safety bars just right, and otherwise 2″ spacing above and below that.
An attachment can fit in a larger hole than it’s made for, but it will be able to wiggle and maybe tip down a little, depending on the snugness of the bracket that goes over the tubing.
Similarly, attachment brackets can fit onto slightly smaller tubing than what they were designed for. This can be less bad than the wrong peg size, because you can glue shims (UHMW plastic or wood) to the inside of the attachment’s bracket to make it fit. Some attachments work well enough even if they’re loose. Some don’t have enough pressure put on them to be a safety issue, like a battle rope anchor, but it could still rattle.
Lastly, the steel gauge (wall thickness) of rack tubing does not factor into compatibility. The tubes are fabricated to an outside diameter spec.
For fitting 3×3 attachments onto 2×3 tubing, or 2×3 attachments onto 2×2 tubing, an Etsy seller is making these adapters to fill the void in the bracket.
I don’t recommend you use load-bearing attachments that don’t fit quite right, such as J-hooks, steel safety arms, or plate holders, unless you have a good way of retrofitting it to be snug enough. Use some common sense, visualize it, and you’ll get the idea.
In many cases attachments that use a locking pin to secure the attachment into a second hole on the rack’s upright won’t line up the same on all racks. Normally this is the difference in metric and imperial (inches) hole spacing. As much as you want it to work, under most circumstances you won’t get the locking pin in. The offset starts at 1/16″ per hole and widens cumulatively.
If you’re thinking of foregoing the locking pin or buying a thinner one, and you have to ask for confirmation on whether it’s safe, you probably shouldn’t do it.
Rogue has among the best and most consistent quality. Cheap Amazon-only brands are the worst and might be unsafe, and we avoid promoting them when possible. Most other brands are somewhere in the middle or sometimes as good as Rogue.

Slightly smaller than 3″x3″, and pegs slightly smaller than 1″. Generally compatible with 3×3 racks. The attachments here with a locking pin using a second hole, such as spotter arms, can even sometimes fully fit on 3×3 racks because the smaller peg size somewhat makes the attachment drop a little lower and reach the slightly wider spaced hole to lock into.
An exception: There have been reports of Titan’s regular J-hooks not fitting over 3×3 tubing.

For a high and low cable system that works on almost any power rack, see the Spud Inc Pulley System shown above.
If you only need a high pulley (for lat pulldowns and tricep pushdowns), see Giant Lifting’s pulley system for a much lower price.
This Rep Fitness dip station above fits on almost any rack with 1″ round safety bars (thanks Anthony!). The rack needs to have at least 21″ depth between the front and back uprights, which is the case for all freestanding racks and most floor-mounted racks except the most shallow ones. The rack’s hole spacing does not matter, as the bottom part of the attachment simply rests against wherever the lower safety bar is.
There are a couple solutions for power rack strap safeties if you can’t find a match. If you can get a brand of them with brackets that fit your rack but the straps are the wrong length, get two 2″ Stren-Flex slings of the right length to replace them with. They are extremely strong, with pertinent info labeled and a chart on that webpage with the pound ratings.
Your second option is a pair of Spud Inc suspension straps that hang off your rack’s top crossmembers.
Multiple questions on this in the comments prompted me to add this section.
You generally can’t add a rear rack extension – usually to accommodate weight plate storage – made for a different brand. The height of the holes off the floor and the rack width would have to be precisely the same.
Similarly, with extension feet meant to stabilize a rack, the holes would have to be precisely the same height off the floor, or they would float and defeat the purpose.
I have heard reports of people using these across brands, but in every case it seems the user made some modifications to make it work.
For the best compatibility going forward, I highly recommend getting a 3×3 rack taking 5/8″ pegs (Rogue Monster Lite compatible) or 1″ pegs (Rogue Monster compatible). Even you never buy a Rogue product, they lead the way in things like this.
Rogue appears to be de-emphasizing their 2×3 racks in favor of 3×3. Other manufacturers have seemed to follow suit. This doesn’t mean that nobody will make racks with 2×2 or 2×3 tubing. I believe that there will be a market for those lighter and cheaper racks for a long time, and they are not necessarily bad racks. The 3×3 attachments sell much better and are more numerous, because people who spend the extra money for a 3×3 rack are more likely to soup it up.
You might want to steer clear of racks that have metric sized tubing. They are harder to fit attachments on. Some of them fit ok.

Any idea what happened to the Fringe Sport SuperCup J-Cups (the sandwich J-cups for the 2x3 racks)? When I click the link and look on their page, I'm not seeing any sandwich style J-cups? Simply out of stock or possibly discontinued?
I would guess discontinued. Out of stocks are always marked and left online. I'll remove it. Fringe doesn't have any sandwich J cups now.
Hi David, Thanks so much for keeping this post updated. I'm in the market for a new rack, as I'm tired of not being able to find attachments for my Powertec rack, which is also too short. I'd love to buy a Rogue RM-6, but I have a hard time justifying the cost. That said, I'm looking at the Titan Fitness "Titan" rack. It looks to be a clone of the RM-4. I would purchase it today if Titan made an extension to convert it to a 6 post rack, but I digress... Do you happen to know if the measurements (hole spacing, hole size, & upright width) is an exact match w/ Rogue?
See the 75x75mm section above. They are a little smaller than 3x3. Hole size should be 1". Not sure about hole spacing but the tubing size should throw it off enough.
Yeah, sorry I missed the Titan section. I skipped down to the 3x3 and completely missed this piece. I appreciate you not calling me out, lol. Thanks again for the info sir. Very helpful. On a diff note- I've been looking at the GetRxd Titan 6 post 3x3 rack which is 8' tall. I've searched all over, but can't seem to find any reviews (aside from their own website) that discuss this rack. Does anyone have any experience with this rack or company?
I have a Legend 3142 half rack. I ordered a Titan X-3 dip attachment. Learned the hard way that 3"x3" Legend racks have 1" hole while X-3 has 11/16 holes. Would be great if you could add Legend Fitness to the list.
Thanks for an awesome list!
Now I see what happened. Legend wouldn't help me when I asked them for the missing info last year. I tried again today and hopefully somebody will get back to me. Not very smart to ignore an opportunity for free exposure on a popular article like this.
Thanks for following up. I can only attest for the fact that the Legend 3142 has 3"x3" 11 gauge steel with 1" pins. I'm unsure about their other equipment.
I've added the Legend Varsity Series and Performance Series to the page. If the 3142 (Performance Series) uses 1" pins then the Varsity does also. The Pro Series uses odd shaped holes, and they aren't getting back to me to clarify it.
Legend has so many racks that I think I got overwhelmed when I looked into adding them a while back, or maybe I couldn't get all the sizing info. I'll have to look at them again!
I am building a power rack out of 3X3 11 gauge and I have been trying to find out if the racks and accessories for 1" holes are a true 1" hole or is the hole slightly larger? Do you know for sure? Thanks!
I believe all the manufacturers do it by the hole size, not the size of the peg on the attachment, which is a little smaller. So a 1" hole should be exactly 1".
Ok good to know! Thank you!
Hello David
I was just wanted to double check before I ordered the Rogue Monster Lite Storage Channel Pair and Rogue Monster Lite Matador fits 100% on the rep pr-4000. Just wanted to make sure before i pay the hefty shipping haha. Thanks!
Yep, the fit between the Rogue Monster Lite and Rep PR-4000 should be identical. They have the same hole spacing too, for any 2-hole attachments.
Just ordered the 3x3x1 weight pegs from Vulcan. You actually get a pair for $50 which is a really good deal. Some of the pegs from other brands are $50 to $75 EACH.
Good to know! I've updated the listing to indicate it's a pair. That sounds like a lot for just one.
Hey David,
Do you know of any accessories that are compatible with Rouges ECHO? I'm currently looking to get some spotter arms. Thank you!!
Nope, it's all alone in that size!
Any chance you’ll be adding The bells of steel racks to this incredible list
?
Done! I added a section for 60x60mm (2.36") Tubing, 5/8" Holes. Bells of Steel are the only racks that are around that size for now.
Hey David, this page was exactly what I was looking for... almost. I've got an old 2x3 set of j hooks with a pin diameter definitely less than 5/8. Cannot for the life of me find them or any company that makes them. They look like a standard rogue j hook. Definitely 2x3 and definitely less than 5/8. I'm having trouble even finding a rig that used holes less than 5/8. Any ideas?
That's going to be a tough one. I have no idea who might be making those J hooks or rack to fit. It sounds like they're a pretty recent model if they look like Rogue's current ones.
The X-3 is actually slightly smaller than 3x3 whereas the Rogue 3x3 racks are dead-on. This means that many of the Titan X-3 attachments won't fit the Rogue 3x3 racks.
That's not good! I thought sure some people had said that the Titan attachments fit Rogue. I'm going to have to look into this again. I checked my Titan X-3 and it's 2 15/16", or likely 75mm. The J-cups and safety arms are snug, not a millimeter to spare. Anyone got a Rogue 3x3 they can measure??
I do. I also have the X-3 wrist roller and it won’t fit my Rogue 3x3 ML. It’s very close, but the difference is just enough that it won’t work. Titan tends to have poor tolerances, so some other attachments may work on the Rogue 3x3.
Ok, thanks! Sounds like I need to check with Titan and try to get the exact dimensions on their 2x3 and 2x2 racks too.
I've got an X-2 extension and can measure, though I don't have a caliper gauge at present. Maybe I'll gift myself one for Xmas. :P
I got confirmation from Titan today that both their 2" and 3" tubing dimensions are all made to mm sizes, so it's 50x50, 50x75, 75x75. I'll update the charts soon to fix all that.
