I liked Troy’s old school looking ones, the PO and the similar grey-green HO. I might have spoken too soon on them being discontinued, because I found them again on Troy’s site. Either I missed them or they reappeared. Dealers are showing at least some in stock. I’ll re-add the Troy section to this article for now and see how it pans out this year.

I’ve marveled for years how many plates like this are sold still. It’s like there’s somehow not enough plates. Most last forever. Where the heck are they?

It’s too bad about them discontinuing the Troy plates, I own some of the Troy GO plates and they not only hold up and function well, but look great when interlocked on various machines as well as bars. The PO’s were awesome as well with that old school look and could be matched with a lot of old school black iron plates such as the Ivanko O2Bs.

The Rogue Deep Dish and 6 Shooters are also excellent and solid, durable plates as well, the 6 shooters (although not exactly alike) pair well with the discontinued GOs.

Yes, if you’ve got a way to find those old York plates! I know people do find them somehow, but I’ve never seen any listed online that didn’t get immediately snapped up.

I have old York milled and rogue machined plates set of 4 x 45 lbs each. I like both but would say if you can find the old York’s stick with them. I do have some ivanko 35s as well they are nice.

Great to hear you’re happy with those and that the fit and weight accuracy are as expected. Actually speaking of which I think they only got the first big batch of these in from China in early 2021, making them the newest of the bunch. I’ll have to add a note that. So far so good.

The Bells of Steel machined plates are as nice as any I’ve ever used. I have 2 pair of 2.5 and one pair of 25. The weights are well within tolerance. Fit and finish are superb. Holes are just snug enough. Rims on the 25s are plenty thick. I like the battleship gray finish, but appearance is not that important to me. A real value.
